EP cores, ideally used in power inductors are built with a low profile and excellent self-shielding feature. Their cubical shape provides maximum volume to surface ratio. However, they have less winding space. They are available in a variety of sizes such as EP7, EP10, EP13, EP15, and EP20. EP cores are applicable for differential and telecom inductors and power transformers.
Pros
- Low profile
- Excellent shielding
- Maximum volume to surface ratio
Cons
- Less winding space
Applications
- Differential and telecom inductors
- Power transformers
